The policy of Australian Sailing is "a Club should only issue Equipment compliance forms to boats on its own Yacht Register or to non-registered boats only where the Certificate is for that boat to compete in a race conducted by the issuing Club." RANSA has adopted YNSW’s policy regarding the issuing of Equipment Compliance forms.
This means that only vessels on the RANSA Yacht Register or vessels that have completed and paid for entry to a race conducted by RANSA may have an equipment audit undertaken by RANSA Equipment Auditors.
Note that Equipment Audit forms represent a static “snapshot” regarding a boat’s compliance with the special regulations. In its capacity as race committee, the Club's Equipment Auditor’s may undertake random equipment audits on vessels participating in RANSA events. A vessel that fails to comply with a reasonable direction of the Race Committee or an Equipment Auditor, or that fails to comply with equipment requirements, shall be subject to protest by the Race Committee.
If you want more information on the Safety Requirements and any recent changes to the Category standards they can be viewed on Australian Sailing Special Regulations web site page.
